Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils!

Mrs. Thornton and I are attending a class for teachers pursuing the Science endorsement. The class is held in Rome at Georgia Highlands College. Our instructor is Mr. Billy Morris. He's AWESOME. He teaches like we do! HANDS ON & activity based. We've spent the whole week learning more about plate tectonics, minerals, rocks, and fossils.

Today, we were working with fossils. Everyone loves fossils. We were so excited about it. I actually held a dinosaur bone in my hand!!! (Granted it wasn't like a leg bone. It was a bone fragment.) It was the closest I'll ever come to a dinosaur! I was so excited I totally forgot to take a picture. Mr. Morris was kind enough to share his collection with us. He gave us some fossils that he and his students found on a dig in Wyoming.

Tomorrow, we are going on a field trip to collect our own fossils! Wish us luck! Stay tuned!
