Aquarium Trip was a BLAST!

Today was our final field trip of the 2007-2008 school year. The Tennessee Aquarium was AWESOME!  I must brag on my class. They were great today. Everyone was well behaved and made me proud! One Aquarium volunteer commented on how well-behaved our students were! Way to go, Gilbert Gators!

We would also like to thank our parent chaperones. We could not have had such a wonderful time without you! So, our heartfelt thanks go out to Mrs. Weed, Mr. & Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Helton, and Mr. Killian!

Mr. Tipton also went with us! Thanks, Mr. T. for taking time out to join us for our trip!

Field Trip Reminder

All field trip money is due by Friday of this week. We have to turn in final counts for the Aquarium trip. If I do not have parent money turned in by Friday, you will have to pay the full admission price and go through the gates separate from us.

No Homework!

Due to CRCT testing this week, we will not have homework. Yes, that's right, no homework! We'll pick up with spelling words, sight words, and reading passages next week. Just be sure that you are prepared for the CRCT each day by getting a good night's sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and wearing comfortable clothes. Be on time! Testing begins promptly at 8 a.m.

Penguins are awesome!
We will attend a special penguin show when we visit the Aquarium on April 28th!
You can learn more about penguins by visiting:

CDM Hosts Free Family Night

Looking for something fun to do with the family?

Why not try the Creative Discovery Museum? Tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a VERY SPECIAL Wal-Mart Free Family Night! This month Creative Discovery Museum is partnering with Chattanooga's Kids on the Block to celebrate Child Abuse Prevention Month. Help empower children and join the CDM for "Pinwheels for Prevention . . . It's Your Turn to Make a Difference." Mini-pinwheels will be given out as long as supplies last. Guests will also enjoy two puppet performances by Chattanooga's Kids on the Block addressing child abuse prevention. The puppet shows will be at 6:10 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. in the auditorium.

It's almost here!

Can you believe our first field trip is only 11 days away? I can't wait. Our first trip is to the beautiful Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, TN. We're seeing the Princess and the Pea. Blue Apple Player’s fanciful version of this popular tale takes place on a distant planet in an uncharted universe. While traveling the universe Princess Eartha finds herself in the middle of a star storm. She seeks shelter with the King and Queen of the Planet Po. Their son, Prince Polaris is immediately smitten with Eartha but the Queen is not. She suspects that she is not really a Princess, and devises a plan to prove that Eartha is a fraud. What will happen? Will Princess Eartha marry the Prince? Or will the mean mother find a way to prevent the marriage? Stay tuned...

After the play, we plan to visit Gilbert Stephenson Park in Ft. Oglethorpe to have lunch.

Thanks!

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to my students. We had an issue with one of the walls in our classroom. Nothing major - just peeling paint! We were temporarily moved to another classroom. My students did such a wonderful job handling everything today!

You guys are awesome!

We're hitting the road!

We’re happy to announce… we’re hitting the road! We have finally scheduled our first grade field trips! That’s right! We’re taking two trips this year! Be sure to mark your calendars!
